Instead ordered the payment of two million dollars.

After the court's decision, Amber Heard said in her statement, "I cannot express my disappointment in words. My heart is broken. Even the mountain of evidence could not stand the power, prestige and clout of my ex-husband. It is like a setback. It is also a setback for taking seriously violence against women."

A hearing was held in court from Johnny Depp on a 2013 text message that he had sent to the British actor. It was written in the text – Let us burn his face, will drown him before burning. When Johnny Depp was asked about this text in court, he said that it is related to the film Monty Patwin, which talks about burning and drowning witches. He said that he has been watching this film since the age of ten and it was just a joke.
The jury also listened to an audio recording between Johnny Depp and Amber, in which Johnny Depp can be heard using abusive language. At one place Amber Heard yells at Johnny Depp and tells him to put the cigarette on someone else but Johnny Depp is saying derogatory things to Amber about his weight.
The jury also heard testimony from the former couple's therapists, who said how Johnny and Amber were abusing each other. The medical staff who treated Johnny Depp have also testified while he was trying to quit the drug habit.

Psychologist's testimony - The forensic psychologist testified on behalf of Ember Hoard's team and said that he believed Ember was a victim of domestic violence and had spoken to Ember several times.
